Coordinators—To Do List

To Do in October

October can be a busy month with activities and special events. Club leaders and members should be getting to know one another and falling into a regular routine. As a coordinator, your job is to oversee the program, plan the calendar year, recruit leaders, and then support those leaders with supervision, training, encouragement and the proper tools and resources they need to run a successful program. Below are several items to keep on your radar during this month:

  • If you’re running a Pal program, recruit Pals and assign them to club members. The Pioneer Clubs Pal program matches club members with adults in the church for prayer and friendship. Relationships develop as Pals do things for and with their club member(s), such as praying, calling on the phone, e-mailing or attending special club events together. For tips on starting a Pal program, see Making Your Pal Program Work.
  • Start thinking now about special events or projects for the upcoming holidays. In this issue of the eNewsletter, you’ll find a complete party plan for a Pumpkin Party, which can be used in October or around Thanksgiving. An excellent resource for more ideas is the Parties and Special Events book. To order a copy, click here.
  • Write a brief report on your clubs for your church newsletter. If your church has a website, post photos of recent events with captions. (Do get permission before publishing the photos.  Photo Permission form.)
  • Check with your leaders for award orders and other supplies they might need.
  • Write a note or send an e-mail to your leaders thanking them for their service. Words of encouragement at regular intervals will keep your leaders motivated and excited about club.
