Kids Won’t Sit Still and Listen?
If your kids won’t sit still and listen, here are a couple of things to doublecheck:
  • Are you doing too much of the talking?
  • Are you expecting them to sit still too long?

    Projects
To get kids to listen to instructions, try giving them step by step. Demonstrate each step after you give it, or have club members do so. This is especially important for younger children, who can’t grasp multiple instructions given at once.

    Bible Explorations
The Bible Explorations in your leaders’ plan book are written to require the club members’ active participation.
  • Be careful not to turn them into devotionals. Kids need to learn to use the Bible themselves, and having the chance to do something will help keep their attention.
  • Use the Introductions. They’re not time-stealing gimmicks—they get kids actively involved in the Bible topic and help them see how the Bible topic relates to their everyday life. If you dive right into the Scripture Study, kids (especially unchurched ones) may think, "What’s the point?" and act bored.
