Service Opportunity _____________________________

1. Invent a new toy, game, or sport. (do all)
Decide the direction you would like to take.
Questions to ask yourself:

  • What do you think kids are looking for?
  • How can your invention be different from what kids have now?
  • What elements would make it appealing?
  • What would you enjoy doing?

    Decide on a plan.
    Questions to ask yourself:
  • What materials will I need?
  • How can I make it work?
  • How much time will I need?

    Invent it.
  • Put together a prototype.
  • If it’s a game or sport, write clear rules for it.

    2. Try out the new game, toy, or sport. (do both)
Try out what you have invented.
    Have a group participate.

    Evaluate it.
Evaluate what you have invented and what “rough edges” need improving.
Evaluate the clarity of the rules.
    Evaluate the “fun factor.”
    Evaluate the “playability.”

    3. Create or design something. (choose one)
    Create something using junk items.
Note: Make sure they’re considered “junk.”

This is your opportunity to be a mad scientist! Use your best creative instincts to create anything you desire. Work with friends or by yourself. Use at least eight of the following items:

  • garbage bag tie
  • margarine/yogurt container
  • milk jug
  • coffee can
  • shoelace
  • scrap wood
  • mop

  • toy action figures
  • cardboard roll from toilet paper
  • cardboard roll from paper towels

  • Design something for your room.
Choose something that will make your life easier. Make the real thing, if you can. Consider one of the following ideas:

  • CD holder
  • Wall calendar
  • Bulletin board
  • Junk cabinet

    4. Follow the Creator.
    Read Isaiah 40:25-28.

Why is it significant that God created everything?
