Go on a scavenger hunt for sounds.
With a friend or on your own, use a tape recorder to collect sounds for a scavenger hunt. Find the following sounds, or make up your own list and let friends guess what you recorded.

a cricket
a cash register
a trumpet
a dog barking
an egg sizzling
a bird singing
a train
a squeaking floor
a basketball bouncing
a car door closing
an alarm clock buzzing
someone coughing
water dripping
a teakettle whistling
