Hike, Bike, Jog or Skate?

For many children, your Pioneer Clubs program is the first place they hear the message of God’s grace, love and redemption. For others, it’s where that life-changing message turns into an “ah-ha” understanding of his plan of forgiveness and salvation.

And yet, a children’s ministry program does not exist in many of the 300,000 churches sprinkled across our country. Why? Many of them don’t know that a partner like Pioneer Clubs waits, ready and willing to equip them to build a life-transforming children’s ministry program.

What’s exciting, however, is that the kids in your program can change that. How? With a Kids for Kids Hike. This spring marks the 10th anniversary of this action-packed mission opportunity. In the past decade, kids like those in your clubs, have raised thousands of dollars to reach new churches, train new leaders and help more kids join in the fun of Pioneer Clubs. So hike, bike, jog or skate to extend the reach of Pioneer Clubs. For complete details, go to our website and get plans underway for your 2007 hike.

Blessings!

It Worked at Our Club

Jill Davidson of South MacArthur Church of Christ in Irving, Texas, came up with a fun and quick way to say thanks to volunteers who help out with Pioneer Clubs activities. As a thank-you to the dads for the Trailblazer Dad-Daughter Campout, she had 4" x 8" photo cards made with a picture of the outing plus the words, “Thanks, Dad, for your time, your love and our great memories.” The postscript included the name of club (Trailblazers), the name of the event and the date. The cards come with envelopes that the Pioneer Clubs members can then address and send to those special volunteers.

You can order personalized photo cards through most major drugstore chains as well as major discount retailers. Many also have an option for online ordering—you don’t even have to leave home to create this memorable thank-you!

What's Up at Club?

Bibles are being studied. Club members are busy with activities. Awards are being earned. Kids are laughing and making new friends. But don’t keep the fun to yourself! To send us your stories and digital photos, click here.

Pictured this month are members of the Pioneer Boys® club of Seacrest Presbyterian Church in Delray Beach, Florida, after a great day of fishing with their dads. A fish was caught, despite its hiding deep down in the warmer waters. The group also saw two large turtles as well as pelicans, osprey and seagulls. To top off the experience, they stopped at McDonalds and then ended their time of fun in the sun with prayer and thanksgiving.

Are You Treating Yourself Right?

As a leader you are a giver—of your time, your energy, and your ideas. Working with children as a Pioneer Clubs leader is as rewarding as it is demanding. The effort is well worth it, however, as evidenced by letters that come to Pioneer Clubs headquarters telling of the impact a leader had on the writer 20, 30, even 40 years earlier!

To be the most effective leader you can be, consider these tips on how to keep yourself ready for the challenges ahead.

Ask someone in your church or Pioneer Clubs to be your prayer partner. Take the initiative to ask someone to pray for you regularly. Keep him or her informed of your club’s needs and your personal needs.

Share your concerns. Depending on the situation, you could talk to the club coordinator, a veteran leader, or a pastor. Keep communication lines open, and get to know a fellow Pioneer Clubs leader. Taking care of concerns will free you up to do your work more effectively.
