Training and brainstorming together can truly be gifts for club leaders. But sometimes it’s tough to coordinate schedules so everyone can meet. Here’s what two coordinators have tried:
- On Club Night – We finish club at 8pm, so it’s not too late to hold a leaders meeting. To make it more fun and almost always ensure a perfect turnout, we meet at a restaurant for “appies” or dessert during our meeting.
- Instead of Club – We also have cancelled club (once or twice a year only) and held a fun night for leaders, such as bowling. We have a leaders meeting during refreshments.
- During multiple Sunday services – Sometimes we’ve scheduled a leaders meeting during a Sunday service. The leaders were at church anyway, and because we have multiple services, they didn’t have to miss church to attend.

- During “fifth-week” club meetings – Every fifth week we hold an Award Celebration Party. Our “relief crew” of leaders takes over for the regular leaders that night. I use this time for leader training and ongoing evaluation and “tweaking” of the club program.
