Sing, Sing a Song

Our club meets on Wednesday evening during our midweek church service. Instead of club members’ going straight to club, they participate in the first part of our service, singing with us for about 10 minutes. That way parents, other church attenders, and club members experience a unity and awareness of each other that they would otherwise miss. After singing, we dismiss club members to their individual clubs.

Skills Inventory

Church members had talents they were willing to share with club members, but we had no way of knowing what they were. So we developed a Skill Inventory sheet and had church members check those things they considered a skill, interest, or special ability of theirs. The list consisted of main headings, such as “Hobbies” and “Communications.” Specific subpoints came under those, such as “Woodworking” or “Journalism.” Then we created a master list of names and corresponding skills. Now we have a list of resource people we can turn to whenever we have a need.
