Here are some ideas for turning club into a “Virtual Club.”

  • Create to-go boxes at the beginning of each unit with supplies needed for that month’s Bible explorations and life skill activities. Have a delivery day, or set up a time for families to grab their boxes at church. Depending on weather, plan a social-distancing event around the pick-up times, such as a drive-through carnival or an I-spy game. (“Hide” things related to club around an area where families can walk or drive through. Have kids find all of the things before grabbing their to-go box.)
  • Record videos of teaching each Bible lesson or life skill activity. Post on your church’s website, on platforms such as Youtube, or in a Facebook group to share with your club families.
  • Utilize the new DELTA Exploration videos that correspond with the DELTA Living Like Jesus curriculum, our newest year of the DELTA series. View the first video for FREE here: Parable of the Sower Bible Exploration Video.
  • Plan for leaders to follow-up with families very regularly.
    • Each month, send out a postcard or letter to let kids know that you are thinking about and praying for them.
    • Set up groups on the Marco Polo app for each small group/club group. This app lets you share short video messages with one another and watch them when you have time. Encourage kids and leaders to ask questions to the group, share highs/lows of the week, etc.
    • Send texts to parents or make phone calls regularly.
    • Create a Facebook group for club families and post regularly.
  • Use a tool such as Zoom for club meetings.
    • Have club groups meet together for a short Bible teaching. Depending on the number of kids participating, divide into small groups with at least two teachers in each group. Have leaders lead the smaller groups in discussion, Bible memory, and prayer.
    • Ask a leader to guide the kids through a particular life skill activity instruction. Be sure to do activities with supplies kids may have at home, communicate with parents to let them know what supplies will be needed, or provide the supplies in a box that can be picked-up from church or delivered to them.
    • Activities that might be easier to do virtually include:
      • Animals (ask kids to “bring” their pets to club!)
      • Clothes
      • Cooking/Baking/Good Food
      • Family Fun
      • Feeling Good
      • Home Helper
      • Parents
      • Puzzles
      • Signing
  • Consider shortening your club meeting time frame.
  • Make it fun! Kids and parents may be weary of e-learning.
  • For kids that complete part or all of the club year virtually, pass out the “Computers” badge!
  • Invite guest speakers to join your club for a meeting. Reach out to the missionaries your church supports to share about their ministry. Find adults in your community that have professions related to the life skill your kids are working on (such as inviting a vet to talk about animals during a “Critters” unit).
  • Get creative with themed nights.
    • Have kids do virtual tours of a room in their house.
    • Wear pajamas for a night.
    • Have a “dress like your parent/child” night. Have kids dress up like their parents, and vice versa.
    • Zoo Night – Bring your favorite stuffed animal.
    • Wear a funny hat or wild hairdo.
    • Bring and eat a favorite snack.
  • Play virtual games!
    • Ask “Would you rather?” questions.
    • Have kids find objects in their home during a scavenger hunt.
    • Show a zoomed-in picture and have kids guess what the object is.
    • Make a slideshow with many images on a screen. Keep the next slide identical, but remove one item. Have kids guess which item is missing.
    • Play games like “Simon Says,” “I Spy,” “Hangman,” “Pictionary,” etc.
    • Play audio clips. Have kids guess what causes that sound.
    • Play Bingo.
