Summer is coming. Really! What could be better for kids on long, hot summer days than getting wet? Well, that’s exactly the fun they can look forward to with Pioneer Clubs’ new Wacky World of Water VBS!

Yes, after 75 years of ministering to children through midweek clubs, we are venturing out with our first VBS program. The Wacky World of Water uses stories from Scripture that feature water to help children understand how the Creator of heaven and earth deals with our sin through His own Son, Jesus Christ. Through Bible lessons, music, games, crafts and even snacks, kids will come to understand how much God loves them and how he can be trusted in all of life and with their lives for eternity. We are excited to make this new program available to churches to reach kids in their congregations and communities this summer.

However, we didn’t make this decision lightly.  After talking to churches and reviewing research, we found that a lot of churches struggle with VBS programs because they are extremely demanding and difficult. From staging to costumes to high-level production, it takes a lot to run some of these programs. Other research shows that nearly 50% of smaller churches have given up on even trying to hold a summer VBS.

So we decided to simplify things. In fact, we built The Wacky World of Water on a core ministry philosophy that literally demands simplicity. One of our key characteristics as a ministry over the years is to teach children how to build strong, healthy relationships.  Our VBS program follows that model by helping kids develop relationships with one another, with caring adults, but most importantly, we want them to develop a strong relationship with Christ. To make sure there is plenty of opportunity for building relationships, we have done our best to keep things simple and provide plenty of time within the program for doing just that.

A second guiding principal is our focus on collaboration and teamwork instead of competition.  Our crafts, snacks, even games are designed to show children how to enjoy working with others to reach goals.

Yes, summer is coming! And we are working up a sweat to get everything ready so that this summer, churches can reach children with God’s love. Hope you jump in and join us in this endeavor.
