Where did the name Camp Cherith come from?

/Where did the name Camp Cherith come from?

Cherith is the name of the brook the Lord sent the prophet Elijah to for physical and spiritual refreshment. While Elijah was there, ravens brought food to him. You can read all about this in 1 Kings 17:1-6.

Today we look at Camp Cherith® as a place campers come to step aside from everyday routines to learn more about Jesus Christ and have their souls refreshed by the Lord. Our hope is that campers realize that God still provides for our spiritual, emotional and physical needs. Counselors at Cherith® often take bird names in keeping with the story of the ravens in 1 Kings 17.
